This expanded study explores the grammatical category of aspect in Modern English through a comprehensive synthesis of semantic theory, functional linguistics, discourse analysis, and cognitive linguistic frameworks. The article argues that aspect is not merely a structural appendix to tense but a fundamental conceptual mechanism that actively shapes the temporal perception and interpretative stance of speakers. By examining the progressive, perfect, and perfect progressive constructions, the work highlights how aspect conditions narrative perspective, discourse cohesion, and event construal. The dual role of aspect as both a grammatical marker and a conceptual filter is emphasized, showing how it organizes the internal temporal contour of events and shapes their relationship to the moment of speaking
