Graphene, a two-dimensional material consisting of a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal lattice, has garnered immense attention due to its exceptional electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties. Methane (CH₄), a simple hydrocarbon and the main component of natural gas, has emerged as a promising carbon source for the scalable and cost-effective production of graphene. This paper reviews the primary methods for synthesizing graphene from methane, including chemical vapor deposition (CVD), plasma-enhanced techniques, and novel catalytic conversion processes. The advantages, limitations, reaction mechanisms, and future prospects of each approach are discussed, providing a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art in graphene synthesis from methane.
